Since first release, we recomend using Top 10 and AccessPress Social Share plugin. However, a number of our customers suggest that these two plugins are too CPU-consuming. We did a few tests and comparison, and come to conclusion that: Yes, these two plugins are not too optimized.
Turning off these two plugins would increase the loading speed a lot, however, not all the cases. The reason is
- For Top 10, it needs to count the view day by day. When your site has a lot of mangas and chapters, then the number of rows would be a big number. Thus it needs more time in querying the views.
- For AccessPress Social Share, it loads third-party libraries to sharing like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest… Loading these libraries in some countries is very slow. In addition, it stores a very big value in WP_Options table, which causes a core query to be very slow.
So if you are using these 2 plugins, and you feel your site is slow, consider turning those off. Compare the loading speed to see if it helps. Since 1.5+ of Madara, we have remove the recomendation of using these 2 plugins.
